COMMITTEE UPDATE - March 2023

SVI AREA GUIDE HOUSE LEGACY COMMITTEE UPDATE – March 2023 edition of SVI News (#88)

​

The Committee is happy to report that several proposals have been approved by Area Council and we will hopefully be able to implement them soon. Here is the latest batch of projects that the committee is taking on:

​

• Purchase of battery powered landscaping tools to help with work around the various properties

• New flooring at Kingswood - McKevitt Lodge

• Fencing at Milnes Landing (down the driveway to the lower cabin)

• New kitchen and wood floor at Milnes Landing Lower cabin

• Mattresses at both Milnes and Kingswood Lodges

• Two new aluminum bridges on the Kory Marshall trail to replace the existing wood structures

• Looking into viability of tent platforms at Bill Reith or near the cottage (Kingswood)

• Looking into a gazebo for behind the Kingswood Cottage

• Investigation into construction upgrades of the pan abodes in order to have groups sleep in them

• Upgrading the Jubilee Kirby and Bridges outhouses to composting toilets

 

All camps are receiving improvements, but we need assistance from the membership.

This committee is facilitating the ideas and proposal process, but it is not in the mandate of the Legacy Committee to necessarily put the projects into action. No amount of involvement is too small, be it help with planning, labour, professional expertise, or any other contribution.
